Welcome to our new website! It has been on our "to do" list for some time and with the assistance of website designer, Lauren Gerber of Equine Design4U, it has now become a reality. Lauren has been wonderful to work with and we would recommend her to anyone looking for professional, friendly and efficient service. Her contact info is listed at the bottom of our homepage, so you can check her out sometime. For now, grab a glass of your favorite summertime drink and sit a spell. You'll enjoy reading about what Twin Birch Haflingers are up to.
First and foremost, our foal announcements!
On April 8th, Devia TOF gave us a beautiful stud colt (who we named "A Devious Affair", but affectionately call "Peanut Butter") sired by Austin TOF. We were so happy with this first cross last year, that we decided to try it again! For yet another change, we bred Devia back to Neumeister TOF for 2004.
Pearl KH delivered a healthy, bouncing filly, sired by Neumeister TOF, on May 6th. This filly, named "Pass the Whiskey" (aka Patsy) has the sweetest head and a real spunky attitude. Both babies are in the throngs of being introduced to handling, leading and all that other good stuff that makes them good horses.
The show season will open with some low-key, riding and driving fun at the NYSRHA All-Haflinger Fun Show on June 7th. The New York State Registered Haflinger Association (NYSRHA) started this show 3 years ago and it remains a favorite of those who attend each year. A couple weeks after that, we'll head to Blainville, Quebec for a combined driving event with Lavalla NTF. Lavalla is training hard, preparing for our first CDE of 2003. Wish her luck as she competes in the Preliminary Single Pony Division. We may squeeze in the pleasure driving show at the Cayuga County Fair in Weedsport, NY before gearing up for the Lorenzo Driving Competition in Cazenovia, NY on July 19 & 20.
This well-respected show is held in a beautiful location, directly at the foot of Cazenovia Lake, and while drawing competitors from all over the states, it offers stiff competition from some of our best, local drivers as well. Last year, our then 3-year-old Margarite, was Reserve Champion Novice Pony and co-recipient of the Charles Stebbins Fairchild Trophy. Boy, were we proud!
In between the start of the summer's shows, the mares will continue their training in hand and under saddle with the help of lifelong horsewoman, Liz Case, and Cazenovia College student, Lindsay Brown. Both, Lindsay and Liz have proven to be a great help with our two weanlings, six yearlings and five "older" horses. Look for "L & L" at the shows and introduce yourself!
Well, that's all for now. Check back again soon when we will have more good news to share!
